There is a certain pressure that comes with finding a wedding dress. For many brides, it’s one of the first things people ask about and one of the most photographed parts of the day. But beyond finding something beautiful, the most important thing is finding something that feels like you. For Jane, that meant stepping away from tradition.

“I knew from the start that I didn’t want a traditional wedding dress, so I went into Allegra Vintij Bridal with that vision in mind,” she says.

When she found her dress, she immediately fell in love with its vintage feel. But finding the dress was only the beginning. She knew that with a few thoughtful additions, it could become something even more personal.

“Once I found my dress, I knew it needed a few thoughtful additions to truly feel like me. Thanks to the incredible alterations and custom touches from Virgin Rogue, it became everything I had hoped for.”

Working alongside Paloma, the dress evolved into something that reflected not only her personal style, but the feeling she wanted to carry with her throughout the day. One of the most defining additions was a flowing fabric strap designed to cascade down the back of the dress and into a train.

“I fell in love with the dress’s vintage feel, and my favorite addition was the flowing fabric strap we designed that cascaded down the back into a train,” she says. “It complemented the dress beautifully, adding movement, depth, and a unique touch that elevated the entire look.”

Still, trusting the creative process wasn’t necessarily easy.

“Trusting the process—and Paloma’s creative vision—was the best decision I could have made,” she says. “As someone who’s naturally indecisive, I had a hard time picturing the strap addition at first.”

But sometimes the details you are unsure of in the beginning become the ones you cannot imagine living without.

“Looking back, though, I truly can’t imagine the dress any other way. It became one of my favorite details and made the dress feel completely like me.”

That feeling—completely like herself—became the thread connecting every part of her wedding look. The goal wasn’t to transform into someone else for the day, but to create something that felt authentic to who she already was.

The first time she saw everything come together, from her hair and makeup to her bouquet and dress, the overwhelming feeling was gratitude.

“I was filled with so much gratitude the first time I saw myself fully ready,” she says. “My hair and makeup, dress, and bouquet all felt so authentically me, reflecting the softness, joy, and warmth that define our relationship.”

After months of planning and imagining what the day would look like, she was also surprised by how much better it felt than she could have anticipated.

“I was surprised how everything was even better than we had imagined and planned,” she says. “It was the most special day celebrated with our closest family and friends.”

And while every detail played its part in creating that day, the moment that instantly brings her back is much simpler.

“Seeing my husband’s smile as I walked down the aisle,” she says. “The moment our eyes met, everything else seemed to fade away.”

Years from now, when she looks back through her wedding photos, she hopes she remembers more than the dress itself. She hopes to remember the feeling of seeing every detail come together and knowing that, despite all the planning, it still felt completely and authentically like her.

“I felt completely like myself, and that was my biggest hope throughout the planning process,” she says. “Seeing everything come together so beautifully made me incredibly grateful.”

Because perhaps that is what makes a wedding look truly personal. It isn’t about following tradition or choosing what a bride is expected to wear. It is about finding something that reflects who you are and then making it your own.

And sometimes, all it takes is trusting the process—and adding one unexpected detail—to turn a beautiful dress into the one you will remember forever.
